Greetings everyone,
I hope your October is kicking off with a hiss and a roar!
Loretober 2024
April Johnston is hosting Loretober on IG. You can find more details about the event here.
Here is my contribution to day 1. I have a few projects I need to wrap up, so I didn’t have time to do a full piece, but I thought a pencil sketch would be sufficient.
Volume 7 of Lore Olympus
Of course, I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention that Volume 7 of Lore Olympus is out today. Admittedly, it is hard to get people excited about the 7th book in a series. But this volume is no less special to me and houses some of my favorite moments in the series.
I always enjoyed how the pomegranate resembled a candied apple. I think this is because I was never allowed to have one as a child. Consequently, candied apples have a very mysterious and forbidden quality to them, which has found its way into this comic.
Wētā Workshop Collab.
The vinyl figures for Hades and Persephone are also now available for preorder.
Unlike the premium statue, the vinyls are not limited, meaning nobody will miss out.
I was lucky enough to visit the Wētā Workshop and get a peek into the process of working on these collectibles. Please let me know if you’d like to hear more about it or just see more photos.
Book Rec (Lazy Book Club)
I’ve been in a reading slump this year since I finished LO. But since it’s the spooky season, I thought I’d recommend a book.
Note: This book contains adult themes and is not suitable for everyone. Please make sure this book is right for you before reading.
A Guest in this House by E.M. Carroll.
This is a beautiful and haunting book that challenges the idea of what a graphic novel can be. The artwork is superb, playing with the duality of greyscale and full, vibrant colors. The story is as unique as the art and will leave you feeling absolutely gutted for days after reading it.
End
Congratulations if you made it to the end (and thank you) I hope that you have a great week. Here is Hades on a small bike for your trouble.
I would really like to see and read more about the Wēta Wip for the premium figures! The details and the work behind the project has been intriguing to me
Hades on a small bike gives me life.
